A quick update for you about last week's Planning Commission hearing on the Recreation Master Plan. We ran out of time and equestrians had to leave before the Commission took their public comment. No worries, however, the second hearing will be on September 27th and we will be allowed to speak at that time. Reminders will be sent out about this hearing.
Thank you to all of you who took the time to attend and also to you and especially to the riding organizations who took the time to write a support letter for the trail policy. They did not go unnoticed! Many of the staff and Commissioners commented on how many equestrian letters were sent in. Those letters went into the public record and are being considered over the next month by the Planning Commissioners. Your hard work and your words will not go unnoticed! We all have to work together and show a strong need and desire for horse facilities in Santa Barbara County, and you all are doing a great job of that!
Also, next week is the monthly Santa Barbara County Riding And Hiking Trails Advisory Committee (CRAHTAC) meeting, however nothing is on the agenda that concerns equestrian use on trails and the meeting will be held in Lompoc with no zoom capability. So this month there's really no reason to send letters or take the time to attend. However, the agenda is available below, if interested.
Thank you all again for your support. Reminders about the Planning Commission hearing on the 27th will be sent out and we hope you can attend either in person or via Zoom.
